Must Do!

Lindt Home of Chocolate
Switzerland is the home of chocolate! Zurich has a lovely museum for Lindt chocolate which takes you through the details of how chocolate is made and the history of chocolate, starting with its discovery by the Aztecs and then use by Europeans. The best part of this tour is ALL of the free chocolate as you go through each exhibit!
-
Roman Irish Spa
The Roman-Irish spa ritual in Zurich is absolutely incredible. You book a day online and then can come and go as you please. The hallmark of this experience is a “cleansing ritual” in which you take yourself through various steam rooms, baths, hot stones, cooler pools, ect. The experience was lovely. My partner and I left feeling incredible relaxed. There is also a rooftop pool with a stunning view of the city
-
Uetliberg Hiking
Uetliberg is the closest mountain to downtown Zurich and is a beautiful hike. You can access it from the main train station, Zurich HB, and it has trails of all different levels! We decided to take the train to the Uetliberg station and hike the Planetweg trail which is around ~4.5mi and takes you through beautiful viewpoints. For individuals looking for a more intense hike, you can hike up the mountain from the bottom, skipping the train altogether! Restaurants and coffee shops are dispersed on the mountain, providing fuel pre or post hike!
-
Lindenhof
Lindenhof is a BEAUTIFUl viewpoint of the city that is very easy to access and perfect for a lunchtime picnic. It is also a perfect spot to stop when enjoying Old Town. You can access this viewpoint by a quick walk from Zurich HB, the main train station!
-
Old Town
Old Town is the most charming part of Zurich! Walk through the narrow streets and see beautiful churches, cute shops, restaurants and more! This is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll or some shopping!
-
Lake Zurich
A trip to Zurich would NOT be complete without a long walk by Lake Zurich. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a few morning walks along the Lake Promenade, where you will find locals enjoying picnics on parks surrounding the lakes, cute restaurants and more! The lake is truly stunning and the water is so incredibly clear!
-
Hiking in Stoos
Stoos is a quick ~30min train ride away from Zurich and has lovely hiking trails! I found one on the app Komoot (which was great for hiking in Switzerland) that took me up above the town and had a beautiful view of lake Stoos and the surrounding city! This was probably my favorite hike of the few that I did during my time in Zurich!
-
Top of Europe
The trip to Top of Europe from Zurich is quite a hike, but totally worth it! We booked a tour through Trip Advisor that drove us to Grindelwald, the small town where you can take a Gondola up to the top of Europe! If you have extra time in your trip to stay a few days in Grindelwald for hiking, I recommend that! However, we did not have the time but wanted to do the Top of Europe anyways and this day trip was the perfect option for that!
Where to Eat!
-
Rusterei Garten
Rusterei is a perfect dinner location and good for drinks! We went for a lovely dinner after time at the Roman-Irish spa, though there were many young professionals grabbing a beer after work. The fries were DELICIOUS
-
Babu's Bakery & Coffeehouse
We could not get ENOUGH of Babu’s Bakery & Coffeehouse. I think we came here three different times for brunch and everything is amazing. I probably ate the best breakfast sandwich of my life the second time we visited! Also, I highly recommend their peppermint lemonade!
-
Angkor
We stumbed upon Angkor after arriving in Zurich on a Friday evening and it was incredible Thai food. The restaurant is beautiful, with multiple coy ponds surrounding tables where you sit criss-cross apple sauce! We ordered the pad thai and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend trying this spot as it is easy to access from the Hardbucke train station
-
Restaurant Viadukt
Restaurant Viadukt is a great place for brunch a bit outside of the city center. We were staying at the Renaissance Hotel near the Hardbruke train station, so this was only a quick walk away. I absolutely loved their pancakes. It is also right next to a beautiful park and is very family friendly
-
Sora Sushi
I have to say, I would rarely, if ever, go to a sushi restaurant right near a train station, BUT hear me out. This restaurant is just outside Zurich HB, which is a perfect starting point for just about any day. I had a delicious hamachi roll and avocado roll and the fish was SO fresh! I recommend this for a quick bite to eat before a big day of exploring
