New York, New York

Must Do!

  • The Edge

The Edge NYC is one of my all time favorite activities. It is a relatively new installation in Hudson Yards, with absolutely stunning 360 degree views of the city! I definitely recommend going around sunset, though do expect a decent amount of people. While not ideal if you are afraid of heights, I still think it is worthwhile, as you can choose to stay indoors and avoid the area outside where the floor is clear, allowing you to see all the way down to the street. An added perk is the full bar, making it a perfect late afternoon/evening activity!

  • The Whitney

There are a ton of incredible museums all throughout New York City, but the Whitney is one of my favorites. Apart from the gorgeous modern art, it is also in a fun area of the city. The rooftop is a wonderful place for a coffee and a snack, before or after viewing the museum. Cannot recommend the Whitney more!

  • Chelsea Market

Chelsea Market is SO FUN!!! I think it is a perfect place to go for lunch on the weekend, as you have so many delicious options (it can be a bit overwhelming lol). Apart from all of the delicious food, there are some pop-up shops that rotate and I have found some incredible handmade jewelry that I wear almost every day. Cannot recommend Chelsea Market more, there is something for everyone!

  • The High Line

The High Line is a quick step over from Chelsea Market, though you can enter at various places in the city. It is one of my favorite places to go for a walk with a friend, coffee in hand. It offers a nice escape from the concrete jungle with a taste of nature :)

  • Artechouse

The Artechouse is AMAZING! When I was in NYC this summer, I went to their neuroscience exhibit (nerding out a bit because I am very passionate about healthcare lol). They had an incredible exhibit about the life of a neuron and portrayed this process through a stunning intersection of art and technology. I cannot recommend more!

  • A Walk in FiDi

Before this summer, I hadn’t ever spent time in FiDi, except passing by, and it is quite nice! Definitely much busier during the week (as expected), but there are a ton of fun things to see! This shot was taken by the Hudson on a rainy day when my partner and I spent the day exploring the area!

  • The Met

It was my first time visiting the Met this summer as well and their exhibits are incredible. The downstairs exhibits are focused on Greek and Roman sculptures, which are incredible. Fun fact - these sculptures originally were in color?!? I never knew that! The upper stories were my favorite, as I am more a fan of painting. They have a ton of beautiful Monets and many other French artists that I hadn’t heard of before but whose oil painting was incredible. Definitely recommend going, but give yourself some time as there is a lot to see!

  • Little Island

The Little Island is a new park near Hudson Yards that is quite popular on a sunny day. It is a nice area of nature(ish) by the Hudson and has very unique architecture. If you are in the area, it is very easy to spot. Visiting is also free! I definitely recommend going in the spring or the summer and its a great place for a picnic with friends!

  • Run/Walk by the Hudson

By the Hudson on the west side of the city, there is a very nice bike path and walking path where at 6pm on a nice day, you will see a ton of people running after work. I was one of those runners one day and it truly is a gorgeous place for a run (or hot girl walk)! Bonus if you go at sunset for the views of New Jersey :)

  • Times Square

If you have never been to New York City before, visiting Times Square is definitely a must do! It can be quite overwhelming at all hours of the day but it is very unique. My favorite part is seeing all the street artists drawing people or the city skyline - they are so good!

  • Central Park

A visit to New York City is incomplete without a stop by Central Park. A beautiful place for a walk or picnic with friends in the spring and summer! It is also a great place to go stop by before or after heading to the many museums in the area. Cannot recommend this oasis of green in the concrete jungle :)

  • 9/11 Memorial

While I don’t think it is appropriate to take pictures at the actual memorial, this photo was taken from night a couple blocks away in FiDi, with the light shining up from the memorial into the sky. The 9/11 memorial is very impactful and a gorgeous tribute to the brave men and women who passed that day

Where to Eat!

  • Eataly

While Eataly isn’t only in NYC, I LOVE the NYC location. It has a beautiful location and view of the Financial District. The pesto gnocci is so delicious but I am also a fan of their pizzas! Truly cannot go wrong :)

  • The Ragtrader

If you happen to find yourself in Midtown during the weekend, I highly recommend the Ragtrader for brunch. The ambiance of the restaurant is super fun - they have great drinks! The food is also quite delicious (and good for a hangover lol)

  • Mission Ceviche

I am absolutely OBSESSED with Mission Ceviche - it 1000000% deserves the Michelin stars, so so so good! While most of the food on the menu is ceviche, I do think you would enjoy it if you don’t like raw fish. Although not pictured, my friend and I LOVED the filet mignon - I think it was the best steak I’ve ever had in my life :) Excellent wine selection as well, truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here!

  • 12 Chairs Cafe

Brunch, lunch or dinner, you truly cannot go wrong with 12 Chairs Cafe. It is in a super cute area of Soho (very trendy lol). I absolutely loved the vegetable curry and one of my best friends goes there all the time (she is a local). The hummus and babaganoush are also incredible and a great way to start the meal

  • The Butcher's Daughter

The Butcher’s Daughter is one of my all time favorite brunch spots - you can find locations in NYC and in LA! The tofu scramble is my go-to order, though it is always hard to choose, given how delicious everything looks. I am also obsessed with their juices, they all are so good!

  • The Doughnuttery

Oh MY GOODNESS - the Doughnuttery is an absolute must within Chelsea Market. I am a huge fan. The best part is they are mini doughnuts that you can choose individual flavors for, so for those of us with decision paralysis (me lol) it makes your life much easier! You can try so many flavors! Such a delicious dessert/snack :)

  • Foji Hibachi

My boyfriend and I were CRAVING dumplings one night when we were staying in Midtown and stumbled upon Foji Hibachi and WOW. While a bit of a hole in the wall, they had the BEST soup dumplings that I have ever had (or in the top 3). It is also a hibachi restaurant, so lots of different options and a great place for a date (we saw a few first dates that night hehe)

  • Sori Sushi

While I have never gone to their proper restaurant, I admittedly have ordered Sori Sushi three days in a row for lunch while working from home in NYC. The fish is SO FRESH and the flavors are very good. I also love how you can order a little bit of a bunch of different types of rolls (again good for those with decision paralysis lol)
